WJEC Eduqas Update: Advertising the post of Chief Executive
WJEC chief executive Gareth Pierce has indicated that he will step down from his role early in 2018. Gareth stated that: "It has been a privilege engaging with committed stakeholders and partners who share our ambition for learners and a pleasure working with such wonderful colleagues at WJEC. We have strength in depth in the management team and proven expertise throughout the organisation, supporting learning across Wales and England. Recent years have been particularly interesting with qualifications reform being implemented in both countries, leading to this summer's successful first series at GCSE and A level. It's also pleasing that in the next few months I'll be involved in the initial implementation stages for the work to be undertaken jointly by City & Guilds and WJEC in relation to vocational qualifications reform in Wales."
Board chairman Mike Evans said: "We are grateful for Gareth's contribution over more than a decade and we have the recruitment process for a successor already planned to ensure a smooth transition. The process is being managed by Odgers who will be pleased to respond to enquiries. With flexibility in terms of the handover date and an experienced management team at WJEC, there will be continuity in our engagement with stakeholders across Wales and England."
