Unique Candidate Identifiers

Each candidate will be allocated a Unique Candidate Identifier (UCI) number, which will be used to identify individuals during their modular courses.

Modular 'cash-in' entries often include results from more than one examination series. It is necessary to be able to track individual candidates' module results to ensure that the correct 'cash-in' grade is awarded. Whereas a candidate number is only valid for a single session, a UCI will remain with individuals for the duration of their GCE courses, even if the candidate moves to a different centre.

UCIs are also required for Key Skills and the new GCSE Modular specifications.
