2021/2022 Adaptations to Vocational and Other General Qualifications Published

Further to the outcomes of the joint consultation Department for Education (DfE) and Ofqual on the arrangements for the assessment and awarding of Vocational and Technical Qualifications and Other General Qualifications in 2021/22, we have today published details of adaptations to the assessment of our vocational and other general (non-GCSE/GCE) qualifications for the 2021/22 academic year.

This document Adaptations to Vocational and Other General Qualifications 2021/2022 provides details of the adaptations to the assessment of our Entry Level Certificates, Level 1/2 Vocational Awards and Level 3 Applied Certificates and Diplomas. It replaces any previously published information on adaptations to the assessment of these qualifications for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 academic years and overrides published information in the specification and sample assessment materials.

The adaptations published in this document are for the academic year 2021/22 only and it should not be assumed that adaptations to assessments approved for 2020/21 or for 2021/22 will continue in 2022/23.

For the avoidance of doubt, a learner who has received a unit CAG or TAG in either 2019/20 or 2020/21 will be able to carry this result forward. Qualification CAGs and TAGs will not contribute to the award of a larger qualification. Please refer to the subject specific information in this document for further information.

Adaptations have been designed to assist with mitigating the impact on teaching, learning or assessments caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are aware that the impact of the disruption varies between centres, depending on the qualifications that they offer and their approaches to teaching and learning, with some centres and subjects more affected than others.

We continue to work collaboratively with DfE, Ofqual and other awarding organisations to monitor the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and to identify and consider any contingency arrangements which may be necessary in the event of any potential worsening public health situation that results in significant disruption to a learner’s ability to take their assessments.
