Announcing the 8th Moving Image Awards speaker line-up
We hope that you have your calendars marked because we’re less than a week away from our 8th annual Moving Image Awards 2022. The ceremony has gained recognition from teachers and lecturers of film and media courses at institutions across the UK, as well as leading figures in the film industry.

We are delighted to introduce you to the following guests, who will be joining us at the British Film Institute in London on Friday, March 4th, for our awarding ceremony this year:
Anna Smith Anna Smith is a leading film critic and broadcaster in the UK. The former President of the UK Critics’ Circle, she is the host of the popular podcast Girls On Film, which was listed as the ‘Best Feminist Film Podcast’ by Stylist magazine. A contributor to Deadline Hollywood, Time Out, Metro and The Guardian, Anna appears regularly on Radio 4 and Sky TV and often stands in for Mark Kermode on the BBC News Channel Film Review. Anna has presented at the WJEC Eduqas Moving Image Awards for the last three years. |

Kim Longinotto Kim Longinotto is a British documentary filmmaker, well known for making films that highlight the plight of female victims of oppression or discrimination. Longinotto has made more than 20 films, usually featuring inspiring women and girls at their core. Her subjects have included female genital mutilation in Kenya (THE DAY I WILL NEVER FORGET), women standing up to rapists in India (PINK SARIS), and the story of Salma, an Indian Muslim woman who smuggled poetry out to the world while locked up by her family for decades. Kim is the co-director of SISTERS IN LAW - a focus film on the WJEC Eduqas GCE A Level Film Specification and is one of the studied film-makers on the A Level course. |

Kate Leys Kate Leys is a script and story editor. Recent completed films include MILLIE LIES LOW (screening in Berlin Feb 2022); BABY DONE (a NZ film that Jacinda Ardern said was her favourite last year); BENJAMIN by Simon Amstell; NUDE TUESDAY by Armagan Ballantyne; HOW TO FAKE A WAR by Rudolph Herzog; AMERICAN ANIMALS by Bart Layton; PIN CUSHION by Deborah Haywood; KINGDOM OF US by Lucy Cohen. She has worked with indigenous filmmakers in the Arctic for several years. In addition, she has been head of development at several companies including Film4 in the UK, where she was based for 5 years and where she was part of the small team commissioning and developing some of the UK's most successful feature films including FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL and TRAINSPOTTING. She has also been a sales agent; a film agent; a TV presenter & producer; director of the Edinburgh Television Festival; Associate Director of Cinema at the ICA; a location caterer, a film festival programmer, a screenwriting lecturer, a film distributor, and a cinema usherette. Kate mentors film talent and speaks at festivals and industry events all over the world, including The Edinburgh Film Festival, Bafta, the BFI, Norways’s National Film School; and many more. During the pandemic, she has continued to do this via her laptop. In just one day in January 2021, she worked with filmmakers in Vienna, Beirut, Tbilisi, and Maputo. |

Larushka Ivan-Zadeh For over a decade, Larushka Ivan-Zadeh has been Chief Film Critic at Metro, which this year became the most read newspaper in the UK. She is also a broadcaster who regularly talks about movies on Sky News and across the BBC. Larushka is a patron of the British Urban Film Festival and has served on numerous film juries including the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award and British Independent Film Awards. She is a contributor to the Rough Guide to Cult Movie. |
