Resource Spotlight: GCSE Religious Studies

GCSE Religious Studies Subject Officer Lynda Maddock shares some of her top free Eduqas resources for the classroom.

Lynda Maddock

We offer a wealth of free teaching resources for our GCSE Religious Studies qualification routes here at Eduqas. These include revision guides, step-by-step exam walkthroughs and interactive exercises to help build key skills.

All of the Religious Studies teaching and learning materials we offer have been created by our expert Subject and Resources Teams. Our resources are designed to guide both teachers and learners through our specification and get them exam ready.

Below are a few resources I’d particularly recommend that our teachers, and anyone thinking of switching to our specification, take a closer look at. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ approaches to using these materials, but I’ve included a few suggestions as to how you might get the most from them:

Exam Walk Through (Route A)

Exam Walk Through (Route B)

Our exam walk-throughs guide learners through examples of every question type on our examination papers and include example responses and suggestions for improvement. While targeted directly at learners, this resource could also be very useful for teachers who are unfamiliar with the Eduqas specification.

Making Connections

This resource allows teachers to see the natural connections between different parts of the specification. This is useful for a more synoptic or integrated approach to teaching the specification and can help when curriculum time is limited.

Revision Activities and Skills Builder

This resource contains a wide variety of interactive, skills-based resources and activities to support improved responses across all question types.

Practising Evaluative Discussions

Learners often need extra support with our AO2 questions because of the analytical and evaluative responses they require. This resource offers an example of how to build on learners’ evaluative skills and apply them to the topics in the specification content.

Who? What? Why? When? Where? How?

This resource is particularly useful for visual learners, using images of religious practices to stimulate responses across all question types. It is highly interactive and allows for differentiation.

Knowledge Organisers

This is just one example of a wide variety of knowledge organisers that show at-a-glance the key content for each section of the specification. They also reinforce key concepts and terminology, as well as providing examples of past questions.
