WJEC Eduqas and EAL awarded contract to deliver next generation of T Levels

We are pleased to announce that following a competitive tendering process by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), we have been awarded the contract to develop and deliver the next generation of T Levels in Building Services Engineering for Construction, and Onsite Construction, working in partnership with EAL, the specialist Awarding Organisation and skills partner for Engineering and Manufacturing sector and related industries.

The contract will be delivered in England by WJEC’s Eduqas brand.

Commenting on this significant achievement Ian Morgan, WJEC Eduqas Chief Executive said: "We are honoured to be awarded the contract to deliver these exciting new technical qualifications in Building Services Engineering for Construction, and Onsite Construction. This achievement reflects our strong knowledge base, extensive experience and broad expertise in the development, delivery and awarding of qualifications.

'As a leading qualification provider in England and Wales, this contract reflects our central role within the education landscape. These qualifications will be delivered under our Eduqas brand, and will be supported by a package of support including professional learning opportunities and digital resources.

'We look forward to working in partnership with EAL to develop and deliver these highly valued qualifications that will enable learners to harness the skills and knowledge to enter the workplace with confidence."

Alison Parkes, Managing Director of EAL responded to the news: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with WJEC Eduqas on the next generation of T levels.  We believe our experience over the years in the design, development & delivery of T levels will ensure a smooth transition as well as continuity for centres and learners in a time of change.  We are very much looking forward to working with WJEC Eduqas in partnership."

Delivered over two years, the T level equips students with the knowledge and skills that are needed for entry into a range of construction occupations. In year one, students will develop core knowledge of how the construction industry works, the principles of design and the role of technology and sustainability. In year two, they will have the opportunity to focus their learning on a specialist area such as electric installation and maintenance, plumbing or heating.

Building on the success of the current qualification, our team will work collaboratively with IfATE and the Department for Education, to consider the outcomes of the route review of the qualification and identify opportunities to simplify the content and assessment of the qualification, as well as incorporating recent changes to the occupational standards for several specialist areas.
