Level 3 Criminology with Eduqas


The Eduqas Level 3 Applied General Qualification in Criminology allows learners to explore types of crime, the awareness of crime, the causes of criminality, and the criminal justice system. 

 

This unique applied qualification allows learners to examine real-world case studies and analyse crime statistics, fostering critical thinking and research skills.   

Eduqas’ Level 3 in Criminology aims to equip learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills for progression to Higher Education, and in turn, the pursuit of graduate careers in the criminal justice sector, social and probation work, as well as sociology and psychology.  


It is primarily aimed at 16-19 year-old and adult learners, and is often studied alongside AS/A Level qualifications and/or other Level 3 qualifications.

What does this qualification cover?


Learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of crime, it’s causes and the criminal justice system, touching upon elements of psychology, law and sociology.  

The Level 3 Applied Certificate in Criminology consists of Unit 1 and Unit 2, while the Applied Diploma in Criminology requires all 4 units to be completed.  

Each unit represents 90 guided learning hours (GLH): 

  • Unit 1: Changing Awareness of Crime (internal assessment) 
  • Unit 2: Criminological Theories (externally assessed exam) 
  • Unit 3: Crime Scene to Courtroom (internal assessment) 
  • Unit 4: Crime and Punishment (externally assessed exam)
